Meet the team!

Prof. Susana Falardo Ramos, DDS, MSc, Ph.D (Portugal) – President

Prof.  Falardo graduated at the Egas Moniz Dental School of Lisbon (Portugal) in 1996. She obtained her “Cum Laude” European PhD in Prophylaxis, Paediatrics Dentistry and Orthodontics, at the Dental School of the Complutense University of Madrid under the orientation of Prof Bermejo with the thesis “Epidemiological Study of Malocclusion on a Multiracial Paediatric Population” in 2015. 

Prof. Falardo, complete a master science on Myofunctional Therapy at the Institute of Psychologic Studies in Madrid (Spain) as well as the  post-graduation in Chronobiology and Sleep Medicine at the Superior Health School of Famalicão ( Oporto), as the Dental Sleep Mastery Programme at the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, the Snoring and Sleep Disordered Breathing – Evaluation and Management Course at the Medical school at Harvard University and the Paediatric Sleep Mini-Residency at Tuft`s University ( USA).  She is an International Board Certificant by the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine and Board Diplomate by the European Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. 

Prof. Falardo is an Invited Assistant Professor of Orthodontics and Sleep on the Dental School of the Portuguese Catholic University in Viseu (Portugal). She is involved in several investigation programs in Portugal, Spain and in USA.

Dr. Javier Vila Martin (Spain) – Vice President

Dr. Vila studied Medicine in Madrid (Universidad Autonoma) and graduated in 1992, then he specialized in Otolaryngology in Barcelona, in 1997.
In 2000 he graduated in Dentistry in Universitat de Barcelona.
He works in Hospital Vall d’Hebron, in Barcelona where he belongs to the Sleep Multidisciplinary Unit, and in his private dental office. He is a professor in the Medical School of the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona since 2014.
From the beginning of his professional activity, he has been very involved in the management of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), from both, the dentist and the ENT points of view, which are very interconnected. He has worked with oral appliances for the treatment of OSA since 1998. In 2016 he did his PhD about the importance of upper airways exam in OA and its polysomnographic results. In 2013 he passed the exam for obtaining the Expert-level accreditation by the EADSM, and in 2014 he took the exam for obtaining the Accreditation for Expert in Sleep Medicine by the Spanish Committee for Sleep Medicine Accreditation. He was a founding member of the Spanish Dental Sleep Medicine Society (Sociedad Española de Medicina Dental del Sueño, SEMDeS) and has been a member of EADSM since 2012.

Prof. Sara RedaelliTresour

Graduated with honors in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics at the University of Milan in 2001.

In 2010 she earned a I level Master in “New clinical and experimental technologies in oral and implant surgery”. 

She has published on scientific journals about dental implants and prosthodontics.

Always careful to scientific update, she participates in countless conferences and courses in different fields of dentistry: prosthodontics, endodontics, periodontology, surgery and sleep medicine.

She is interested in a particular way of aesthetic dentistry and sleep medicine. Certified expert dentist in respiratory disease by SIMSO in 2016 and counsellor of SIMSO- Italian Society of dental sleep medicine from 2015 to 2020. In 2014 she passed the exam for obtaining the Expert-level accreditation by the EADSM.

She is ordinary member of different Italian scientific societies.


Prof. Maria Clotilde Carra
Executive Member

Professor of Periodontology
Department of Periodontology | Faculty of Odontology, Université Paris Cité | Rothschild Hospital, Paris, France

Pr Carra graduated at the Dental School of the University of Parma (Italy) in 2007. She obtained her PhD degree in Biomedical Sciences in 2012 at the University of Montreal (Canada) under the direction of Pr Gilles Lavigne with a thesis titled “Rhythmic Masticatory Muscle Activity during Sleep: Etiology and Clinical Perspectives”. Successively, Pr Carra completed the Postgraduate Program in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry accredited by the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) as well as a Master degree in Periodontics at the University of Paris-Diderot (France). 

Currently, Pr Carra is Full Professor in the Department of Periodontology, Faculty of Odontology of the University Paris Cité (Former University Paris Diderot). She is Head of the Periodontal and Oral Surgery Unit of the Rothschild Hospital of Paris and Director of the EFP-accredited Postgraduate Program in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry. Pr Carra is member of the board of the French Society of Dental Sleep Medicine (SFMDS) et of the European Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (EADSM). Pr Carra has a hospital-based clinical practice exclusively dedicated to periodontology, implant dentistry, and dental sleep medicine. Her research activity focuses on periodontal medicine, particularly on the relationships between periodontitis and sleep disorders/sleep apnea.
